The Baião sub-region is one of the nine sub-regions of Vinhos Verdes, located to the south, on the border with the Douro Region, integrating the municipalities of Baião and part of the municipalities of Resende and Cinfães.

Here, one finds the poorest soils of the multifaceted Demarcated Region of Vinhos Verdes. The climate is more continental, very hot in summer and colder and drier in winter. These conditions are perfect for the evolution of the reverse variety, known for the need for heat for the development of its late maturation. 

The Avesso vineyards of the Cazas Novas project are concentrated in four properties within a radius of 2 km, in the heart of Baião, at an altitude between 300 and 400 meters, on predominantly granite soils, with different sun exposures:
